Man Charged After Running From Police On Nelson Drive

A Hopkinsville man was charged after he fled from law enforcement on Nelson Drive Friday night.

Hopkinsville Police say they attempted to stop a vehicle after it crossed two lanes and turned onto Country Club Lane from Fort Campbell Boulevard on a red light.

The driver 45-year-old Jason Williams reportedly slowed down and turned onto Nelson Drive then jumped out of the vehicle while it was still in drive with a can of beer and attempted to flee on foot.

He was quickly apprehended after he fell down badly injuring his jaw, He was treated and transported by Hopkinsville EMS to Jennie Stuart Health for his injuries. Police say two other people were in the vehicle when it came to a stop in a yard.

Williams is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, disregarding a traffic control device, driving on a suspended or revoked license, and DUI third offense.
