George Coon Library Preparing For Large Announcement

Officials with the George Coon Public Library in Princeton have revealed a “Project Announcement Event” planned for 11 AM Tuesday, June 27 — in which local media and visitors will hear a secret revealed.

The library and its board have “something exciting to share with the community,” and as such, will be having cotton candy, snow cones and a balloon artist on site at 114 S. Harrison Street.

Home and caretaker to one of the Commonwealth’s strongest genealogical catalogs, the George Coon Public Library is relatively quickly approaching its centennial celebration.

In March of 1928, the Library League received a bequest of $25,000 from the estate of Coon, and a year later the present building on the corner of Harrison and Washington streets was dedicated.

During weekdays, it’s open from 9 AM to 5 PM except on Tuesdays, when it’s open until 7 PM. It’s open from 9 AM until noon on Saturdays, and observes the Sabbath on Sunday.

Though they likely can’t reveal the secret just yet, questions about programming and other needs can be directed by phone at (270) 365-2884, or by fax at (270) 365-2892. Specific mail can be sent to PO Box 230, Princeton, Kentucky, 42445.
