Man Injured In South Main Street Shooting

Police have released more information about a shooting that injured a man on South Main Street in Hopkinsville Saturday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say they were called to the Manhattan Motel for a report of a shot being fired and found 57-year-old Adell McLay walking down the road with a gunshot wound to his leg. An ambulance was called for him but he refused all medical attention at first but later asked to be transported to Jennie Stuart Health due to the injuries.

After further investigation, police say it was found that he had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend Rosa Bingham and she grabbed her gun to defend herself and the gun went off as he tried to get it from her.

Bingham and her daughter Jerrica Coleman were reportedly temporarily detained due to disorderly behavior but no one has been charged in the shooting.

Police say they searched two of the apartments but were not able to locate the firearm.
