A broken filtration system at the Bluegrass Splash Family Aquatic Center has forced the temporary closure of the water park on Thursday and Friday (June 8-9).
According to information from the Parks and Rec Department, Hopkinsville Public Works employees were in the pump room back washing the pool when the pipe in the filtration system broke. The city has contacted a pool repair specialty company to repair the water main break.
Officials say the pipe that failed this morning is totally separate from the repairs made beneath the pool floor over the last year. The filtration line that failed is a six-inch supply line that is visible in the pump house, which makes the repair simpler. The repair will be made as quickly as the repair company can arrive.
