Trigg, Caldwell, And Christian Countians Among Kentucky History Honorees

Kentucky Historical Society awards were presented to individuals and organizations from Trigg, Caldwell, and Chrisitian counties Saturday at the Thomas D. Clark Kentucky History Center in Frankfort.

Paul Fourshee and Kim Fortner received the Special Projects Award for their book “A Day In The Life of Trigg County”. The award was presented by Kentucky Historical Society President Jennifer Brown of Hopkinsville.

click to download audioPrior to the publication of the book, the historical facts were posted daily on social media and were broadcast each morning on the WKDZ Country Club to celebrate the 200th birthday of Trigg County.

The Fredonia Valley Heritage Society was honored with a Special Projects Award for constructing the Fredonia Valley Veterans Memorial. The award was presented by Jennifer Brown.

Former Hopkinsville resident Joe Craver was honored with the Award of Distinction for his efforts to lead the revitalization of the Union Benevolent Cemetery in Hopkinsville. The honor was presented by Stuart Sanders.

click to download audioAlso recognized during the awards ceremony was Trigg County Native Patrick Lewis and other team members from the Filson Historical Society based in Louisville. The Filson Society received the Website award for their work on “Resurrecting the First American West”. The honor was presented by Stephanie Lang, who is Editor of The Register of the Kentucky Historical Society.

click to download audioThe Filson also received the Community Impact Award. And Murray State University History Professor Dr. Bill Mulligan received the Frank R. Levstick Award for Professional Service.

The awards ceremony was held Saturday, June 3, at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History in Frankfort.
