Elsie Mae Lumkular Platukas, 87, of Cadiz

Funeral mass for 87-year-old Elsie Mae Lumkular Platukas, of Cadiz, will be at noon Monday, June 5, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Cadiz.

Burial will be at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, June 7, in the East Cemetery, located at 600 Myrtle Street in Jacksonville, Illinois.

Visitation will be from 11 o’clock until the funeral hour at the church.

Goodwin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include:
Husband, Anthony “Tony” Platukas, of Cadiz;
Daughter, Vickie (John) McCarty, of Modesto, Illinois;
Son, Kenneth R. Sigler, Jr. (Stacy Austin), of Springfield, Illinois;
Two step-daughters, Gean Marie (Tom) Kane, of Garden City, Michigan, and Korrinn Wood, of Evansville, Illinois;
Four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one cousin, Donna Reynolds, of Mesa, Arizona, and best friend “Nan” Dettloff, of Garden City, Michigan.

She died Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Shady Lawn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cadiz.

Born March 27, 1936, in Jacksonville, Illinois, she was the only daughter of Alfred Everette Lamkular and Edith Mae Crews.

She attended Oak Ridge and Literberry Elementary Schools and later Virginia High School and Jacksonville High School. She was united in marriage with Kenneth Sigler of Springfield on March 27, 1953, in Jacksonville. They lived their married life in Springfield, where they raised their two children, Victoria Mae and Kenneth.

On December 20, 1979, she married Tony Platukas in Garden City, Michigan.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed going camping and traveling. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at T.O.P.S. and most especially loved all of her pets. She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Cadiz.
