Church Provides Outreach For Trigg First Responders After Blackhawk Crash

Trigg County first responders are continuing to process the late March crash of two Blackhawk helicopters in western Trigg County.

In the hours of following the crash that claimed the lives of nine Fort Campbell soldiers Trigg County first responders were tasked with assisting Trigg County Coroner John Mark Vinson and officials from the 101st Airborne Division in their recovery efforts. Trigg County Judge Executive Stan Humphries says New Work Fellowship hosted a special service open only to first responders who were on the scene of the crash the night of March 29.

click to download audioIn the hours after the crash first responders assisted the coroner in locating the soldiers and properly transporting them back to Fort Campbell. The crash occurred in a field near Lancaster Road when two HH 60 Blackhawk Helicopters crashed during a training mission while the pilots were using night vision goggles.
