Hopkinsville FOP Honors Officers Who Made Ultimate Sacrifice w/VIDEO

Those who lost their lives in the line of duty in Christian County were honored during the Fraternal Order of Police, Hopkinsville Lodge #12 ceremony Thursday.

FOP President Mike Velez said those who made the ultimate sacrifice put their lives in harms way to ensure our safety and uphold the law.

Christian County Judge/Executive Jerry Gilliam, the keynote speaker for the event, said predictability and safety are key factors for Americans who hold jobs.

Hopkinsville Police Chief Jason Newby said his department will continue to protect and serve the community, no matter the challenge.

Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight and Judge/Executive Gilliam declared the week of May 14-20 as National Police Week in the community. Since 1893, ten law enforcement officers have lost their lives in the line of duty in Christian County.
