Caldwell County Schools Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Roach announced Thursday that Daniel Kukahiko has been named the new principal of Caldwell County High School.
Dr. Roach noted he’s “excited” to have Kukahiko take this position, because he has a “long-standing proven track record” for leadership, and will be “a great example” to the district’s students — both personally and professionally.
Kukahiko’s teaching career began at Hopkins County Central High School, where he spent six years in special education. In 2012, he returned to his native Caldwell County High School to continue his work in special education, while accepting the position as head coach of the Tigers basketball team.
He became assistant principal at CCHS in 2021.
Kukahiko writes that “being a CCHS alumni,” this place holds a special place in his heart. He said he’s excited about the opportunity to continue serving the students and staff of CCHS, and he’s looking forward to working alongside a “great staff” to make CCHS a place all stakeholders can be proud.
His undergraduate degree in business management comes from Brescia University, while his master’s degree in special education and a Rank 1 for instructional leadership are from the University of the Cumberlands.
He’s married to Kayla and they have two daughters: Hadley and Everlee. His new role begins July 1.
