GOOD NEWS – Hopkinsville Art Guild Splashes With Four Scholarships

The Hopkinsville Art Guild is thrilled to announce the recipients of this year’s high school scholarships.

Because of the generous donations of our supporters, they were able to award four $500 scholarships this year.

Julia Burke was tabbed for the Dr. & Mrs. Terry Fuqua Scholarship, to assist in her studies at Murray State University. She is a graduate of University Heights Academy and believes art adds much to the culture and character of our world.

Addison Piatt was selected for a scholarship in memory of Mr. Charles Maddux. She has taken many art related courses during her high school career at Christian County High School alongside beloved local artist Mrs. Paula Gieseke’s.

Jasmine Larkins was given a scholarship in memory of Mrs. Betty Vinson. She plans to pursue a career in graphic design. Her art classes at Christian County High School have helped her to realize the great opportunities available in this medium.

And Samantha Dazey was chosen for a scholarship in memory of Mrs. Barbara Gardner. During her time at Christian County High School, she has enjoyed many different opportunities to work with various media in the visual arts.

As a non-profit visual arts organization, the Hopkinsville Art Guild provides many other opportunities in which students may participate. These include workshops, community service projects and art contests.
