A trial date was set for a Hopkinsville man charged in a 2021 fatal shooting on Sharpe Street.

Mory Burse is charged with murder and appeared before Judge Andrew Self in Christian Circuit Court Monday morning while his attorney, Ramon McGee and special prosecutor G.L. Ovey appeared via Zoom.

During the pretrial conference, Judge Self said he wanted to set a trial date in this case with McGee saying he could be ready by August, but Ovey stated he didn’t think he could be ready for a jury trial until January because he just got this case and already has several other murder trials scheduled in the 56th Judicial Circuit.

After hearing arguments from both sides, Judge Self set the trial for January to allow both attorneys time to prepare for the trial adequately.
