A home on Hadden Mill Road in Elkton was damaged in a lightning strike Monday morning.
Elkton Firefighters say they called around 6:40 am for a structure fire and found heavy damage to the underside of the first floor in the home.
The homeowner told firefighters the house was struck by lightning starting the fire in the basement.
Elkton Fire Department was assisted by Sharon Grove Fire Department with an overall 13 firefighters responding.
