Hopkinsville Rotary Tops $300,000 After Four Nights Of Auction

The Hopkinsville Rotary Club’s annual fundraising auction topped the $300,000 mark Thursday night, with a big push on for the final two nights at the War Memorial Building.

Night 4 of the Rotary Auction included results of the middle and high school fundraising. The middle and high schools raised a total of $22,866.43. Combined with the elementary school totals the night before, the school fundraising effort brought a record total of $63,569.18 across all schools.

Night 4 totals for the main auction were $21,341, compared to 18,533 last year, bringing the cumulative main auction total to 54,851 vs. 55,521 last year, a decrease of $670. 389 items have been sold through Thursday, compared to 387 items last year.

Diner and Sweet Shop totals for Night 4 were $7,943 compared to $6,145 last year. Cumulative totals are $23,431.50 vs $19,011.60 last year representing an increase of $4419.90

Hour Club totals for Thursday totaled $22,866.43 compared to $18,372.65 last year. Cumulative Hour Club totals through four nights are $236,504.43 vs $242,415.64, a decrease of $5911.21.

The overall total through four nights is $314,786.93 compared to $316,948.24 in 2022, a decrease of only $2,161.31

A $5,000 scholarship grant was issued in care of the Christian County Agri Business Association for the Rotary Impact Agriculture pathway as the Troy Goode Memorial Scholarship. The Ag pathway seeks to fund the scholarship in perpetuity, and the proceeds of the 4H Ham Basket, which will sell on the Auction’s Big Board on Saturday night, will directly benefit the Troy Goode Scholarship Fund.

Additionally, the Rotary Club of Hopkinsville presented a $25,000 foundation grant jointly to the Christian County and Hopkinsville High School Bands, to be split equally between the programs. The grant is aimed at upgrading musical instruments for band students, in an effort to provide them better competitive opportunities to showcase their talents.

Three Chancellor-Level donors representing gifts of $20,000 or more have committed to the Rotary Club’s 73rd Annual Campaign thus far: Jennie Stuart Health, In Memory of Sarah and Selden Trimble; and Sue Badgett.

The Auction will resume for Night 5 on Friday night at 6:00, and running until 10:00.. Hour Club donations are still being sought, and supporters are encouraged to contact the club at 270-886-3034 to make a donation.
