Trigg County Roads Reopen Following Black Hawk Helicopter Crash

The Fort Campbell Public Affairs Office has announced that the investigation of the Trigg County helicopter crash last week has reached a point where state highways and county roads nearby can reopen.

Keith Todd, from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, tells Your News Edge the following roadways in Trigg County have reopened to normal traffic flow:

  • KY 272/Canton Pike – Between U.S. 68 and KY 1175/Old Dover Road (Mile Point 0.0 to 1.5)
  • KY 3568/Canton Road – Between Averitt Road and KY 272 (Mile Point 2.1 to 2.95)
  • KY 1062/Maple Grove Church Rd – Between KY 272/Old Canton Pike at Floyd Sumner Road (Mile Point 3.2 to 5.3)
  • Bobby Light Road
  • Oak Grove Church Road

The roadways had been restricted to residents only following the crash to facilitate response efforts. The two Black Hawk helicopters crashed in Trigg County late Wednesday, March 29, killing all nine Fort Campbell servicemembers on board.

The investigation continues with the assistance of an aviation safety team from the U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center at Fort Rucker, Alabama.
