As WKDZ celebrates 57 years of community service, a current Edge Media Group employee remembers his time at the Cadiz radio station.

Tony Winfield, who hosts shows six days a week on 96.5 & 100.9 WHVO, was hired by Willie Wilson to work part-time at WKDZ in 1979. He would hold a part-time position while completing college at Murray State University and eventually accept a full-time job with the station.

When he began, he worked those summer shifts, and when in school, he would work weekends. Winfield has many fond memories of working at WKDZ, with the most memorable coming from the coldest day he can remember.

Winfield recalls playing several tunes he still enjoys playing on WHVO now.

WKDZ listeners may also remember Winfield as a sports commentator for the Trigg County Wildcats, where he called games from 2000 to 2004.

106.5 WKDZ serves Cadiz, Hopkinsville, and Princeton, Kentucky.
