A woman that was severely injured in a fire remains at a Nashville hospital in critical condition Wednesday.

Hopkinsville Fire Department Spokesman Payton Rogers says they were called to Morningside Drive Monday morning for smoke and flames coming from the back of the home and when they arrived they found that a woman and several pets were still inside.

The woman and two dogs were reportedly rescued from the home by firefighters and the woman was given CPR before she was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Health, where a helicopter was also called to transport her to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She remains listed in critical condition Wednesday.

The home suffered fire damage to the back of the structure and smoke damage throughout the home, Rogers says they are still investigating the cause of the fire.
