FRANKFORT, January 27 -- Sen. Whitney Westerfield, R-Crofton, presents Senate Bill 9, a bill relating to the protection of born-alive infants, in the Senate.

Third District State Senator Whitney Westerfield says he will not seek another term serving Christian, Caldwell, and Muhlenburg counties in the State Senate.

Westerfield, who chairs the Kentucky Senate Judiciary Committee, announced his decision March 30 prior to the start of the final legislative day in the 2023 Kentucky General Assembly session.

Westerfield says he still has work to do during the remainder of his term that will end in December 2024.

The Senator adds he is proud of the work that has been accomplished during his tenure.

Westerfield adds crime victims in Kentucky now have rights thanks to Marcy’s law.

Westerfield was sworn in as the third district Senator in January 2013 after winning the election in 2012.
