The Trigg County Special Olympics basketball team is preparing to head to the state tournament this weekend in Louisville.
Cadiz Mayor Todd King presented a key to the city to the team Wednesday during a pep rally at Trigg County High School Gym. The team leaves for the state tournament Friday morning.
Team sponsor Theresa Wilson is asking the community to gather Friday morning to cheer the team on as they leave Cadiz. Wilson is asking fans to gather at Casey’s General Store or Ideal Market and cheer as the team bus travels along Main Street.
The Special Olympics basketball team will leave The Way Christian Youth Center Friday morning at 11:00. The team will be escorted by the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department and other law enforcement officials.
