The Christian County Grand Jury returned two no-true bills Friday along with several felony indictments including charges for rape, wanton endangerment and attempted robbery.
No-true bills were returned on Brandon Nixon who was charged with theft by unlawful taking over $1,000 under $10,000 and theft by deception under $1,000, and Lynda Sue Craft who was charged with trafficking meth and marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal possession of a legend drug. A no-true bill means the grand jury did not find sufficient evidence to indict the individuals and the felony charges will be dismissed.
A true bill was returned on 41-year old Leon Maurice Davie, of Hopkinsville, on charges of kidnapping, first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, first-degree strangulation, second-degree assault, tampering with physical evidence, and intimidating a participant in a legal process.
Davie was arrested by Hopkinsville police on January 1 of this year after he allegedly raped and assaulted a woman on Pyle Lane. He’s accused of hitting the female victim in the head with a lamp and liquor bottle before taking her phone and keys. Davie reportedly told the victim the only way she could leave is if she had sex with him and she complied out of fear of further violence.
65-year old Michael Ray Neal, of Hopkinsville, was indicted on a single count of first-degree rape, incapable of consent/physically helpless.
According to the indictment, Neal is accused of committing rape by engaging in sexual intercourse with a female through the use of forcible compulsion while she was physically helpless.
The grand jury indicted 26-year old Derrick Antonio Gill, of Romulus, Michigan, on four counts of first-degree sodomy victim under 12 years of age, and four counts of incest victim under 12 years of age/or serious physical injury.
The indictment indicates the offenses occurred on four different occasions between January 1, 2017 and December 1, 2022.
19-year old Cortez Lamar Lewis, of Hopkinsville, was indicted on three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment charges.
On January 17, Lewis was arrested by Hopkinsville police after he allegedly followed three women after almost hitting their vehicle on Greenville Road. Subsequently, after the women pulled over on Russellville Road, he reportedly pulled out a knife and swung it at them, and then struck one of the women, leading to a bloody mouth.
A true bill was returned on 39-year old Raegeanne Marie Smith, of Hopkinsville, on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree possession of a controlled substance – opiates, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and third-degree terroristic threatening.
The charges stem from November 19, 2022, when Hopkinsville police reported Smith pointed a weapon at a customer at the Dollar General store and threatened an employee of the store. She then dropped the gun and fled the store. During a search of Smith’s home, police reportedly found marijuana and opiates.
The grand jury returned separate indictments on 53-year old Anthony Terrell Harris and 33-year old Jamarcus Terrell Bryant, both of Oak Grove, related to an attempted robbery that occurred on January 11th at Superior Paint and Body Center, LLC.
Hopkinsville police reported Harris showed up at the business with Bryant who was wearing a ski mask and armed with a gun and demanded Harris’s vehicle be returned to him without paying $3,000 owed for the work that was done. Harris and Bryant left the business after employees refused to give him the vehicle.
Harris was indicted on first-degree attempted robbery and first-degree contraband after he was found in with drugs on him at the jail. Bryant was indicted on a single count of first-degree attempted robbery.
