HCC Offering Accelerated Surgical Technology Program

Hopkinsville Community College is continually working to attract students to its programs to better educate them before taking on a life-long career.

One of the college’s programs, Surgical Technology, began in 2019 following the construction of the school’s Emerging Technologies Center.

Director of Allied Health Dr. Beth Beverly tells the News Edge the program is among the courses that operate in an accelerated format.

Beverly says the program helps students learn how to best support doctors and other medical professionals in the operating room.

She adds there is a great need for those who are interested in working in the medical field.

The Surgical Technology program is a partnership between Hopkinsville and Madisonville community colleges, and Beverly says it’s easy to apply.

HCC says the average wage throughout the United States of technologists range from $26,000 to $32,200.
