Cadiz City Council will hear the second reading of an ordinance that will raise the city payroll tax by 4-tenths of a percent and increase the insurance premium tax during its first meeting of 2023 Tuesday night.

After hearing the first reading of the proposed payroll tax increase during a special called meeting in December, council members will have the chance to pass the tax increase. The increase was proposed after it was revealed by former City Clerk Barbie Johnson that the city had to borrow money to make payroll in 2021.
