A bevy of Christmas lights on vehicles of all shapes and sizes helped kick off the Christmas Holiday season in Cadiz Saturday night during the annual Christmas Parade.

More than 50 floats and vehicles were in the parade this year with entry fees raising more than $1,300 in donations to the Trigg County Toys for Tots program conducted by the Trigg County Ambulance Service.

The Parade was led by Cadiz Police Chief Duncan Wiggins and his wife Cindy, with Trigg Youth Leadership class members Brayden Miller, Brandon Moser, Rhett Plymale, and Riley Miller carrying the parade banner and the VFW Color Guard carrying the flags. Grand Marshal 2022 Trigg County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Buddy Sivills was flanked by the Trigg County High School band.

The Trigg Triggers 4-H Shooting Sports Club won the award for Best Use of Lights with the FNB Bank Holiday Decor float winning Best Use of Theme. The first-place float award was earned by the McCraw Lumber Company and Family which featured an antique semi and trailer called Santa and Company. The Trigg County Bus Garage won second place float with their entries that included a decorated school bus. And the Trigg County High School softball team earned third-place float honors.

Other parade highlights included trucks from Pennyrile Electric and HES Energynet, firetrucks from Trigg Lyon and Montgomery Fire Departments, a number of rescue vehicles, jeeps, and twenty-one tow trucks and other vehicles from Riddles Towing and Merciful Towing.

And Santa Claus made his traditional appearance in the Cadiz Christmas Parade riding atop the Christmas light-filled Cadiz Fire Truck.

The parade concluded a full day of activities that included ice skating at the Junque Fest lot, the reading of the Christmas Story and lighting of the Cadiz Christmas Tree at the Trigg County Justice Center parking lot, the opening of the Festival of Trees at Janice Mason Art Museum, and the Mrs. Santa Christmas Cookie and Candy Bazaar at the Cadiz Baptist Church Annex that was sold out before 5:00 due to tremendous response from the community.
