With officials expected to be busy and out-of-town early next week, the Trigg County Fiscal Court met in special session Friday morning — unanimously approving engineer Frank Williams to initiate the bidding process for the Recreation Complex and its concession stand and bathroom project.
In April 2021, Judge-Executive Hollis Alexander told the court that more than $125,000 for the project would be coming from Land and Water Conservation appropriations.
The only concern now, Alexander said, is some construction values have changed considerably since estimates arrived in 2020.
Alexander further noted that while money is budgeted for the project, no commitment has been made at this time, and the court will have the full ability to review bids on the construction before making a final decision.
The existing concession stand and bathrooms were first built in the late 1970s, and a new facility will bring it into ADA compliance for visitors and their families.
In other court news:
— Alexander said that Rogers Group has completed all of its paving for this season, with state officials potentially pushing efforts into the warmer days of fall and early winter. Alexander added that nearly 90%, or more, will be reimbursed for this year’s paving costs, which came in north of $500,000.
— Alexander said that by the next November fiscal court meeting, magistrates will be able to review a few potential price marks on new rescue trucks and rescue building options. Members of the court recently conducted a full walkthrough of the existing Trigg County Rescue property at the old Bronco Springs building on 1892 Canton Road.
