Tony Sicari Retiring From Hopkinsville Solid Waste

Hopkinsville Solid Waste Enterprise General Manager Tony Sicari is retiring, effective next Friday, October 14th.

Mayor Wendell Lynch announced Sicari’s retirement at the Hopkinsville City Council meeting during the mayor’s comments Tuesday night. He noted that he learned of Sicaris’ retirement just a couple of days prior to the council meeting.

In honor of Sicari, the mayor gave a little background information about Sicari and said he has “kept his family’s legacy alive” in the industry.

click to download audioHe also acknowledged how much the city council and the community appreciates what Sicari has done taking Hopkinsville Solid Waste to the next level.

Mayor Lynch presented a certificate of appreciation to Sicari which read that he was employed as the general manager at Hopkinsville Solid Waste on October 15, 2011.

click to download audioTo a round of applause from council members and those attending the meeting, Sicari wiped away tears as he thanked everyone for their support over the years.

click to download audioSicari said the mayor was right, he did want to stay longer but added he’s been living away from home for the last 15 years, and it’s time for him to go home.
