Bailey On Tour As CASA Of Christian County’s New Director

For the last four months, Kira Bailey has been on the trail for Christian County’s Court Appointed Special Advocates — delivering a message of hope and need for some of the area’s most unprotected civilians:

And that’s children.

That message brought her to the Christian County Fiscal Court Tuesday morning, where she described what the non-profit organization does best.

Adopted and formed in 2018, CASA of Christian County specifically serves the families of Oak Grove, Fort Campbell and Hopkinsville.

Bailey, a graduate of Belmont University with a focus in nonprofit leadership, said there are three specific ways in which the community can help the program:

1) Become a volunteer. It requires considerable training before going out, meeting with families and representing kids in these cases — who might not have the same voice inside the courtroom.

2) Become a board member. Bailey said the current board is really strong, but needs more diversity and expansion to better serve its clients.

3) Become a financial and fiscal force through fundraising or donations.

In a partnership with Grace & Mercy and sponsorship from Bill & Kaye Munday and Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home, CASA of Christian County is holding a key fundraiser this weekend. At 6 PM Saturday, a reception will be held at the First Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, and a 7 PM performance of Clarksville’s Gateway Chamber Orchestra will follow.

Admission is free, but donations are strongly encouraged, with all proceeds set to benefit both CASA and Grace & Mercy. Business, or semi-formal attire, is also strongly suggested.

For more information, Bailey can be contacted through email at kira.bailey@casaccky.org. The CASA of Christian County office is located at 301 Riverfront Drive in Hopkinsville, and is open to the public Monday-Friday from 8 AM until 4:30 PM.
