High School Consolidation Stalled After Inflated Bids

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Academy is back to the drawing board, as it were. Following bids last week that were $199 and $203 million, which were almost double the projected budget, the Christian County Board of Education Thursday night voted to reject the bids that were received for the project.

Assistant Superintendent Josh Hunt says the two bids received are just not feasible.

During Public Comments before the vote, Caleb Ballard criticized the board saying leaders should be good stewards of money regardless of the sources.

click to download audioThe district also made payments for the work on South Christian Elementary School’s gym wall. Moore was reappointed to the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports committee. A payment to Hafer Architects concerning the school consolidation project was tabled.
