Todd County Enacts Outdoor Burn Ban

With high heat, heavy humidity and few rain chances in sight, an open burning ban has been ordered until further notice for all of Todd County.

Tuesday morning, Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield declared a “State of Emergency” because of a threat to health, safety and welfare of Todd County residents.

No person shall cause or participate in any open burning in the unincorporated areas of Todd County. Such burning includes debris removal, trash disposal, land clearing and/or bonfires.

All sworn peace officers with jurisdiction in Todd County, including the Kentucky Division of Forestry, can enforce this provision.

Todd County Emergency Management, in coordination with chief officers, will also implement this policy in order to provide the best fire protection service for all areas of the county.

The office of Judge-Executive owns the sole authority to remove the ban at a later date.
