Guthrie Main Street Program Honored Statewide

Two people associated with the Guthrie Main Street Program were among those recognized for their efforts to foster economic vitality and job creation through historic preservation.

Board member Julie Perell was presented last week with the Volunteer of the Year award by the Kentucky Heritage Council and Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman at a Main Street ceremony in Frankfort. In addition, Guthrie Main Street Executive Manager Tracy Robinson received a service award for 20 years as a Kentucky Main Street Manager.

The Kentucky Main Street program was created in 1979 to reverse the economic decline in central business districts through historic preservation and redevelopment of commercial buildings. In 2021, Kentucky Main Street communities reported $60.5 million in investment in downtown commercial districts

Today, the Kentucky Main Street program consists of 28 communities.
