Two men were arrested after they allegedly exchanged gunfire following an altercation in Caldwell County over the weekend.

According to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a call just before 6:00 Saturday night of a non-injury collision at the intersection of KY 902 East and Flynn Ferry Road and that shots had been fired.

The report says an investigation conducted by Deputies Chad Hawkins and Josh Travis determined 44-year old Howell A. Tedder IV of Dawson Springs and 52-year old Christopher T. Powers of Fredonia had previously been involved in a physical altercation on Cardinal Lane in Fredonia.

Deputies say Tedder and Powers then left the property and saw each other in the area of KY 902 East and Flynn Ferry Road where they exchanged gunfire, striking each other’s vehicle. During the exchange, Tedder also reportedly rammed his vehicle into Powers’ vehicle.

There were no injuries reported during the gunfire or the collision and deputies recovered the weapons used in the incident.

Deputies said an uninjured witness to the incident and passenger in Powers’ vehicle left the area and returned to his home in a neighboring county prior to their arrival at the scene.

Both men were lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.  Tedder was charged with two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Powers was charged with one count of first-degree wanton endangerment.
