Graveside Services for Joan White Slated for Tuesday

Graveside services for former Cadiz business owner and tourism ambassador Joan White will be Tuesday in Cadiz.

White passed away Tuesday in Midway.

She operated the former Hamtown Restaurant for two years and became the owner of the Cadiz Restaurant. In 1984, the first Trigg County country ham and biscuit recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records was made by White at the Cadiz Restaurant. It measured six feet in diameter.

After serving as state president of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, White began working as special assistant to Secretary Mary Ray Oaken in the Tourism Cabinet. She worked in Frankfort for over fifteen years before retiring.

White is survived by her husband Cleland White and three children.
