More Than 600 Items Available When 55th Cadiz Rotary Auction Opens

Now less than a week away from the 55th Annual Cadiz Rotary Club Radio Auction, more details have emerged about the heavily-anticipated events.

As of Tuesday afternoon, more than 600 items are already available on wkdzradio.com’s “Big Deals” page — which will once again operate as the key driver and home for the bidding and purchasing of beloved goods and unique packages.

Bidding will, of course, open up Monday night.

Edge Media Group President/CEO Beth Mann, a 22-year Rotarian, says it’s the most items the auction has begun with — maybe ever.

Radio and video options will certainly be available for those interested. And similar to eBay, online visitors will have to have an email address in order to bid. If outbid, potential buyers will be notified by a return email or a text message — whichever they prefer — and one can return to the “Big Deals” website and re-bid or fold the tent.

Mann and other Rotarians have encouraged all items be thoroughly described both by the donors and the solicitors in order to create proper values for items. This allows not only for the radio auctioneers to do justice, but it also helps create a better experience for web visitors — who will be able to use a “search” tool to locate specific items.

For example, if someone is interested in a “Penny Wallace Rum Cake,” which is typically coveted by local sweets connoisseurs, all they’d need to do is search for such in the online toolbar — and bid, bid, bid.

A number of organizations will be providing dinner on WKDZ’s campus throughout the week. Monday, Trigg County High School Project Graduation is in charge. Tuesday belongs to the students for Trigg County 4-H. No dinner will be provided Wednesday. Thursday and Friday, Genesis Express has meals under control — including a fish fry that Friday night.

Like at any store, Rotarians will now have a printed sheet of all auctions won by a single bidder, which should increase the speed of item pickup at Kentucky Farm Bureau in Cadiz.

In a continued call to businesses and locals, Mann said there’s absolutely “no limit” on the number of items the auction can take — with a soft deadline of 8:40 p.m. Friday night, April 15. The goal is to raise more than $300,000, and Mann added several generous fund matches have already come to club’s way.

Tim McGinnis and Jim Wallace will be back on the air with the auction for the first time since 2019. The primary phone line is (270) 522-3232.
