A Cadiz man will be joining Kentucky State Police after completing basic training and graduating Friday morning. Brayden Thomas was among 71 new troopers in Cadet Class 101, the largest Kentucky State Police basic training academy graduating class since 2014.

A release from the KSP Justice and Public Safety Cabinet says the cadets reported to the training academy on October 3, 2021 to embark upon 24-weeks of intense training. The graduates of Class 101 received more than 1,000 hours of classroom and field study in subjects including constitutional law, traffic laws, use of force, weapons training, defensive tactics, criminal investigation, hostage negotiations, evidence collection, search and seizure, crash investigation, armed robbery response, sex and hate crimes, and bomb threats.

Governor Andy Beshear was on hand at the graduation ceremony and congratulated the cadets on a great job completing the intense 24-weeks of training and becoming a state trooper.

Matthew Fleming of Benton is also among the graduating class. Brayden and Fleming are both assigned to Post 1 in Mayfield.
