Temperature Swings, Storms Expected In Next Week

Sinuses acting up? Worried about early planting? Teetering temperatures and a possible large storm system mid-next week are key concerns for the Weather Edge listening area over the next few days.

Forecaster David Powell said conditions will be dry and cold over the weekend — where temperatures could drop at or below freezing in the late of night.

Just as the heat kicks back on in homes, and extra blankets pulled from chests, Powell notes temperatures will start to rise again next Monday — and well above the 70s.

This creates prime conditions and the potential for precipitous, inclement weather a week from now.

At the very least, Powell said to expect no less than 1-to-2 inches of rain during that 48-hour period of Wednesday, March 30, and Thursday, March 31.

By the end of next week, Powell said that large cold front could once again muffle warm, spring-like skies.

As of Thursday afternoon, the area has received more than 15 ½ inches of rain this year — more than four inches higher than the regional average by this time.

While temperatures will not approach record highs (84, in 1939) or lows (15, in 1974) during this next week, the swinging changes will be more than noticeable.
