NWS Confirms Tuesday Tornado Hit Fulton County

A preliminary damage survey from the National Weather Service has determined that an EF-0 tornado touched down three miles southwest of Fulton County’s Cayce community in the morning hours of Tuesday.

In what proved to be the first of two rounds of inclement severe and winter weather, the tornado stayed on the ground for two minutes — from 6:28 to 6:30 a.m. — and ran for seven-tenths of a mile with max wind speeds of 75 miles per hour and 100 yards wide.

It damaged some hog barns and trees in the region, before dissipating in a field just east of 1127.

This is the fifth tornado in west Kentucky since December 10, when a pair of devastating twisters roared on different paths across the state.

Cayce was the first Kentucky community to experience the catastrophic EF-4 tornado that destroyed parts of Mayfield, Princeton, Dawson Springs and Bremen.
