Baker-Dunn, Hensley Named Co-Chairs For 55th Cadiz Rotary Auction

With the theme set for the 55th Annual Cadiz Rotary Auction, “Service Above Self,” two well-known natives will be serving as event co-chairs for the powerful philanthropic effort.

Current Cadiz Rotary President Kyle Hensley and his president-elect Alana Baker-Dunn have taken on these important roles.

During a Friday morning interview with the NewsEdge, Baker-Dunn and Hensley — both graduates of Trigg County High School — poured out their reasons for committing to the organization, especially this time of year.

Baker-Dunn, a six-year Rotarian, and Hensley, a three-year Rotarian and former Cadiz Rotary Scholar, each have considerable parts to play in the coming months, before the auction weeks begins with the April 11 W.J. Hopson Kick-off Breakfast at the Lake Barkley State Resort Park Convention Center.

With a goal of $300,000 already set for the “Service Above Self” auction campaign, Baker-Dunn and Hensley noted several traditional fundraisers will be back for this year — including “Fill the Pits,” a non-limited breakfast attendance, Century Club cash donations and more.

Collecting items for auction, of course, plays a critical part in the event’s success.

Baker-Dunn noted that pictures of auction items will once again be found in WKDZ’s “Big Deals” online store, allowing for people of interest to take deep looks at the auction before calling in or visiting to make offers.

The Saturday, April 16 pick-up date usually culminates into a celebration of the week’s hard work.

The Century Club cash donations typically serve as more than half of recent fundraising efforts, while the Cadiz Rotary Auction diverts most of its fundraising to local chapters for scholarships, grants and more.

Tickets and tables are limited and already on sale for that Monday morning breakfast, and can be purchased by contacting Sharon Butts by phone at (270) 350-2014 or by email, sharonbutts@triggindustry.com.
