Council To Consider Proposal For Downtown Development Incentive Application

Hopkinsville City Council will consider a new downtown development incentive application for renovation of the old Tom Wade Building, along with a recommendation for the L&N Depot to be transferred to the Local Development Corporation for a study.

Assistant Community Development Services Director and Downtown Renaissance Director, Holly Boggess last week presented the Committee of the Whole with a proposal from Cedar Creek Investment Company to develop the old Tom Wade Building located at the corner of 9th and Virginia streets.

She said the company plans to replace the roof and fourteen windows on the property with no alterations to the front facade windows or the eastside window.

According to Boggess, the first floor will be redeveloped for retail purposes and the second floor will contain a residential unit.

Boggess said they are making a favorable recommendation for Cedar Creek’s proposal for the Downtown Renaissance District Incentive Program.
