Hopkinsville Man Charged With Importing Drugs

A Hopkinsville man was charged with importing drugs at the Hopkinsville post office Friday afternoon.

Kentucky State Police say a U.S. Postal Service Inspector found a package with approximately 100 Fentanyl pills shipped to 45-year-old Nathan Smith and removed the drugs.

Smith reportedly showed up at the post office and obtained the package before being arrested in the parking lot and taken to the Hopkinsville Police Department where he was interviewed.

Police say Smith admitted to having a pill addiction but claimed to have no knowledge of the contents of the package. Smith was arrested and charged with importing Carfentanil, Fentanyl, or Fentanyl derivatives. He is being held on a $50,000 bond at the Christian County Jail.
