Britainy Beshear Thanking Kentucky Residents, Others Who Donated To Recent Toy Drive

Team Kentucky received a big thank you after Christmas was made a little brighter for those who lost everything after recent tornadoes.

Britainy Beshear, the wife to Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, said Monday during a news conference, many lives were changed during her recent toy drive.

Beshear said millions of dollars of in-kind donations were given in less than two weeks.

Volunteers from Kentucky State Police, Kentucky State Parks, the Kentucky Trucking Industry, and numerous other organizations stepped up to help. Large donations of toys were also brought in from Indiana, Tennessee, North Carolina, Alabama, and Arizona.

Beshear said there were enough toys left over from the effort that more will be given out during the birthdays of the children who lost so much.

If you would like to continue to help your neighbors, Beshear said blood is badly needed and can be donated through the American Red Cross or monetary donations can be made to the Team Western Kentucky Tornado Relief Fund.
