Trigg’s Finley, Washer Announce Re-Election Bids For 2022

Trigg County Clerk Carmen Finley has announced that she will again be running for re-election in 2022.

Having served in the position since 2015, Finley — a Democrat — has turned over $1 million in excess fees to the county during her tenure.

While 2020 proved to be a difficult year for many, Finley notes it was a record for the office, and she credits her deputies and their willingness to work through the pandemic in order to avoid a complete shutdown.

Her office was able to open a drive-through window and still conduct business, when other counties in the Pennyrile were unable to do so, becoming a hub for the surrounding area.

Since, the drive-through has remained open for renewals, pick-ups and drop-offs, and she added the purchase of property and vehicles has greatly increased in the last 12 months — which will be reflected in 2021’s receipts.

Her office now provides online renewal of vehicles through drive.ky.gov, the e-filing of documents, and digital copies of all records available online.

“It has been a pleasure to serve the great people of Trigg County,” Finley said. “I look forward to each day. It brings new opportunities to support the community that I am proud to call home.”

Finley isn’t the only Trigg County incumbent who has filed for re-election. Circuit Clerk Stephen Washer, also a registered Democrat, has announced his candidacy for 2022 and beyond — with hopes of continuing his efforts.

An employee with the 56th Judicial Circuit, Washer was appointed August 17th by Judge C.A. Woodall III to replace Pam Perry, who retired in June after 46 years of service.

Washer had been with the 56th for nearly six years before Woodall’s selection, and the lifelong Cadiz resident has his bachelor’s degree in computer information systems (CIS) from Western Kentucky University.

Woodall noted Washer would cause the least disruption to office operations, while keeping smooth delivery for services to the District and Circuit courts.

Washer was sworn in August 19.
