Aaron Acree To Seek First Full Term As Trigg Sheriff

Aaron Acree has announced he will be seeking his first full term as Trigg County sheriff and will file to run in the Republican primary for the office.

Acree was appointed sheriff in August of 2020 following the resignation of Jason Barnes. Acree told the News Edge he is committed to the agency and wanted to put any rumors of him leaving the sheriff’s department to rest. He added he is proud of the restored trust between the community and law enforcement of all agencies in the county.

Acree is a Trigg County High School graduate. He began at the Cadiz Police Department in 2011, where he received statewide awards for DUI and occupant enforcement. Acree left the Cadiz Police to become a state trooper, graduating from the KSP Academy in 2015.

He said he will address his plans for the county and the mission of the sheriff’s department after he officially files to run.
