Soyars Will Not Seek Another Term As County Attorney

Christian County Attorney John Soyars will not seek another term in office.

Soyars announced after four years of serving as County Attorney he has decided to step down at the end of current term in December 2022. Soyars was appointed to fill the remainder of former County Attorney Mike Foster’s term before being elected to his first term.

Soyars says he is proud of how the attorneys and staff in his office have continued to serve the public during the COVID-19 pandemic, noting the office never shut down for one day. He notes someone has been available from the County Attorney’s office to help law enforcement and the victims of crime around the clock, 365 days a year.

When his term ends in 2022, Soyars says he will have served Christian County and the County Attorney’s office for 32 years. In his announcement, Soyars placed his support behind Assistant County Attorney Lincoln Foster who is planning to enter the race.
