The Christian County High School Marching Band finished in fourth place at the Kentucky Music Educators Association Class 4A state competition Saturday at Kroger Field in Lexington. It marked the first time since 1995 that the Colonel band had advanced to the finals.
In addition, the Hopkinsville High School band also advanced to the finals and finished in sixth place — the first time in three years the Hoptown band played in the finals.
It also marked the first time both the Hopkinsville High and Christian County High School bands advanced to the finals in the same year.
Anthony Darnall is the band director at Christian County High, while Grant Jones is the band director for the Hopkinsville High School Band.
