Parade organizers announced Friday afternoon that planning and preparations are underway for the City of Oak Grove’s Christmas parade coming up next month.

Officials with Oak Grove Tourism say the Christmas Parade, refreshments along with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held at the War Memorial Walking Trail at 101 Walter Garrett Lane on Saturday, December 11, from 5:00 to 7:00. The parade theme is “Christmas in the Grove.”

Parade organizer and Oak Grove City Councilwoman Jackie Oliver said the Oak Grove Tourism & Convention Commission hosted Oak Grove’s first Christmas Parade in 2017 at the War Memorial Walking Trail and it was called ‘The War Memorial Walking Trail Park Mini Parade.” She said she wanted to bring it back this year and with the help of Executive Director Traci Cunningham, she believes this year’s “Christmas in the Grove” will be amazing.

Cunningham said Oak Grove has its own uniqueness, which is why the War Memorial Walking Trail Park was turned into a Mini Parade route in 2017. In addition to the parade, she said they will also incorporate the annual Oak Grove Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. She says the parade will feature Santa Clause along with the 101st Rock Band. After the parade and tree lighting, she said Santa will go to his workshop where the first 140 kids will receive a present and have the opportunity for photos and to tell Saint Nick what they want for Christmas.

Officials with the City of Oak Grove and the Tourism Commission encourage all Oak Grove, Fort Campbell, and surrounding communities to come out and enjoy this free event. Officials are also inviting Oak Grove businesses to participate in the parade with their own small vehicles and floats.

Due to the size of the Walking Trail, which is 6-feet wide, and the timing of the event, officials say they are only able to accommodate 30 floats/vehicles participating in the parade and the spots will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. The deadline to register your float/vehicle is December 6.
