The Christian County Health Department announced four deaths linked to the coronavirus on Thursday.
Spokeswoman Cloie Rager with the health department says one of the fatalities was a 71-year old Caucasian male who was fully vaccinated with underlying health conditions. Two of the deaths were unvaccinated with underlying health conditions and include an 84-year old African-American male and an 85-year old Caucasian female. The fourth death linked to the virus was an unvaccinated, 71-year old Caucasian male, with no known underlying health conditions.
Rager also reported an increase of 142 COVID cases since September 30th with 13 of those, or 9%, breakthrough cases.
As of Thursday, the health department reported 272 active cases in the county. Of those, 165 are between the ages of 22 to 59 years-old.
Since the pandemic began, 9,946 total COVID-19 cases have been reported in Christian County, and 129 deaths have been linked to the virus.
Statewide, Governor Andy Beshear announced 2,625 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday and 50 new deaths related to the virus. The state’s positivity rate fell to 8.67%, down from 9.11% on Wednesday.
