Active Trigg COVID Cases In Decline After Record Surge

Trigg County has added nearly half of its total number of COVID-19 cases in just the last two months.

Information released by Pennyrile District Health Department showed Trigg County with 2,051 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began in the spring of last year. There were 412 cases reported in September and 260 in August.

There have been 21 deaths linked to the COVID-19 virus in Trigg County with five reported in the past two months. Some of those are the result of a statewide audit of deaths where COVID-19 is suspected.

While the number of deaths has increased slightly in the past two months, the number of active cases on a weekly basis has dropped by nearly half from two weeks ago.

Trigg County reported 50 active cases on July 29. That total increased to 135 on September 16 and was at 62 as of last week.

In the five counties served by the health department, both Trigg and Caldwell counties have reported 2,051 cases of COVID-19. Lyon County has reported 1,946, Livingston County 1,376, and Crittenden County 1,280.
