Key Renovation For Trigg County Hospital Could Be Delayed

A renovation in a specific wing of the Trigg County Hospital will have to be slightly delayed.

John Sumner, CEO, updated his board on the process late last week — in what will eventually be six new private rooms located near the back of the facility where an old surgery and obstetrics department once resided.

Sumner originally anticipated the rooms would be renovated and complete at the very end of this year, or perhaps early January, but things may get pushed back until mid-to-late February because the local PADD office — where the grant funding is coming from — has asked for more bids on the work.

Dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic also continues to be of major concern for the Trigg County Hospital, its Primary Care facility and its staff. Sumner said the hospital will eventually announce a booster-shot clinic for coronavirus vaccines, and especially when Moderna approves its booster, as Sumner added that’s the vaccine most administered in this area.

Room shortages are still a micro-and-macro concern for Trigg County, the surrounding area and generally the Commonwealth, and Sumner said administering care for non-COVID-related concerns has been difficult at specific times.

Luckily, he said the limitation and federal rationing of monoclonal antibody treatments — specifically Regeneron — hasn’t yet massively affected current and incoming patients, as well as hospital staff.

Sumner did say that when booster shots become prevalent, they’ll likely be administered at the Lexie Bush Convention Center at the Trigg County Recreation Complex.

The TCHB also approved the appointments and re-appointments for 12 new and returning staff members: David Samuelson, M.D. (diagnostic radiology), Jerome Puryear, M.D. (diagnostic radiology), Mark Halsted, M.D. (diagnostic radiology), Adam Green, M.D. (diagnostic radiology), Jared Isaacson, M.D. (diagnostic radiology), Mark Ronchi, D.O. (diagnostic radiology), Harry Dempsey, M.D. (anesthesia & pain management), Anthony Briningstool, M.D. (emergency medicine), William Eason, M.D. (emergency medicine), David French, M.D. (emergency medicine), Shea Godwin, M.D. (emergency medicine), Callie Wells, APRN (family medicine)
