Nature Fest Attendees Not Detered By Rain

Forty-nine individuals are memorialized in stone at the Jeffers Bend patio and they were honored in a ceremony Saturday following the annual NatureFest.

Coordinator, Charles Turner says morning showers did not keep festival-goers away with nearly 200 making their way through the gate.

click to download audioFollowing the afternoon event, the Jeffers Band Steering Committee and the Pennyrile RC&D held a Celebration of Life. Committee Chairman Mark Withers says the idea was about supporting The Bend and bring the community together.

click to download audioAs part of the Celebration, family members were given a certificate and the opportunity to participate in a butterfly release. Pennyroyal Hospice Bereavement Coordinator, Kim Baggett says the butterfly release signifies change and healing.
