Hopkinsville YMCA Announces New After School Tutoring Program

The Hopkinsville Christian County Family YMCA has announced a new after-school tutoring program for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Outreach Director Amanda Crutchfield says the after-school tutoring program will be on-site at the YMCA and is free, Monday through Thursday, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. She says students do not have to be a member of the Hopkinsville YMCA to participate in the program.

According to Crutchfield, Jennifer Joiner, a math teacher with Christian County Public Schools, will be tutoring on Mondays and Wednesdays. She adds Spanish tutoring will begin in October.

All students will receive a free snack and dinner while attending the school tutoring program.

Crutchfield says tutoring gives children the skills needed to study on their own. By offering tutoring services, she says they hope to build confidence and build important learning skills.
