Trigg County School officials are confirming an intermediate school student passed away Thursday.
In a news release issued Friday evening Superintendent Bill Thorpe confirmed Kameron Layton Smith passed away. Smith was a fifth grade student at the intermediate school.
Funeral services for Smith will be Monday at noon at Cadiz United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 10 until noon, with burial to follow in Trigg Memory Acres. Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home.
Thorpe said after being notified of Smith’s passing the district crisis team gathered to plan an appropriate response for students and staff. The plan is designed to provide assistance to students and staff when they return to school Monday. Counselors and staff will be prepared to help students dealing with the loss of Kameron Layton Smith.
