Due to significant increases in both COVID-19 vaccination rates and COVID-19 testing requests, the Pennyrile District Health Department has announced several considerable updates to its current services.
Understaffed at all of its health departments, officials are encouraging patients to first schedule appointments for vaccinations. Walk-ins are welcome, but long wait times are possible as demand continues to rise.
For the best service, one should seek appointments for specific days in their county. For residents of Livingston County, Monday appointments are the best (but they will be closed for Labor Day). Those living in Princeton should book a time at the Caldwell County Health Department on Tuesday. In Eddyville and its surrounding burghs, Wednesday appointments seem best for the Lyon County Health Department. And for Marion/Fredonia residents, as well as Cadiz and its outskirts, Thursday is the top option for both the Crittenden County and Trigg County health departments.
As symptoms become more prevalent and incidence rates rise, COVID-19 rapid testing becomes critical. The Pennyrile District Health Department says it can no longer field last-minute calls for this service.
Instead, please call a local health department and schedule an appointment for advanced care and testing. When arriving for the appointment, stay in your vehicle and call the number to your health department, and a testing nurse will come to the vehicle.
Do not explicitly come inside the health departments during a COVID-19 test appointment.
